Ayton invests in new transport

Ayton Products has enhanced its transport fleet by investing in a new urban curtain-sided trailer for delivery of its packed products to customers across the country.

The trailer is designed to be used with a standard tractor cab unit and has a 19700kg payload. It carries a Manitou telehandler which means palletised goods can be safely and quickly off-loaded at customer’s sites.

The trailer, built by SDC Trailers of Mansfield, has additional safety features such as a colour rear view camera, and has rear steering which enables it to be manoeuvred comfortably into areas with restrictive access, particularly in urban locations.

Will Hipperson, LGV driver commented, ‘this new trailer replaces an older vehicle which had a much smaller payload, so is more efficient and will mean fewer journeys being made. The rear steering is a great addition as some of our customers sites are quite difficult to get into’. Robert Nelson, Production & Logistics Manager added ‘I am impressed with the build quality of this unit and its safety features; it will enhance customer service as well, being self off-load’.

Ayton Products supplies a wide range of bituminous products, which are manufactured and packed at its factory in Wymondham, for distribution nationwide. It operates a bespoke fleet of self-off load vehicles which provide a fast and efficient delivery service aligned to customer requirements.
